1. Suggest to involve patients/family in the handover between shifts, this will insure them to be involved and early discussion

2. Multidisciplinary team approach on regular basis and as early as possible for the new admissions. This will take place in a comfort area with hospitality and respect.

3. Get the family involve in the management by supporting the patients and involve them with the care llan from the beginning till the discharge

Allow the family members (when appropriate) to actively participate in the simple routine tasks of patient care ( assist bedside staff in gently positioning the patient( if the relatives feel they want to help), participate in feeding and be allowed to bring patients preferred foods from home if not contradictory to current treatment and/or condition.

as per group discussion today, some suggestions were brought up:

1- an ICU physician escorts the patient from the admitting department (ER, ward..etc) to ICU. this will allow early explanation of management plan and expected course and environment in ICU and also exploring patient’s expectations early and resolve his/his family expected anxiety.

2- assign guest relations staff dedicated for ICU patients only to manage their families concerns and facilitate doctors-family contact.

3- ICU physician may send a voice message/patient/shift. explaining the patient’s condition and updates to the family.
